Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery

Connect with the benedictine Sisters

Mount Marty University was founded in South Dakota by the sisters of the Sacred Heart Monastery, who live, work and pray alongside our students and staff. The Benedictine ideals of ministry, leadership, and service are embedded in all they do. Have just one conversation with a sister, and you'll quickly learn the importance of living the values of the Benedictine's throughout your life. If you're lucky enough to befriend a sister, you'll know why our alumni come back often to visit.

It's very common to see the sisters in the stands at Cimpl Arena, cheering on the Lancers. There are several ways to connect with the sisters, and they welcome any student into their lives, regardless of faith or religion. Some students get the help and assurance they need navigating through college by having a sister as a prayer partner or tutor. Others spend time getting to know each sister at sporting events, campus life game nights, service projects or visiting with them at adoration and discernment retreats. In addition, students are always welcome to the monastery for lunch, dinner or ice cream socials.
