Sister Mary Arthur Schramm Nursing Scholarship

Mount Marty University will host candidates for the Sister Mary Arthur Schramm Nursing scholarship interviews in the month of November, giving first year and transfer students the opportunity to receive $33,000 per year in scholarships for the duration of their time at the university. Sister Mary Arthur Schramm, a retired nursing professor, started the university’s nurse anesthesia program more than 50 years ago. Today, that is a doctoral program in nurse anesthesia at the university’s Sioux falls location.

“We want the best nursing students to come to Mount Marty to experience a hands-on, rich learning environment in the Catholic, Benedictine tradition,” said Greg Franz, vice president for enrollment management. The scholarship would replace other awards that a student might receive, like extra-curricular or merit scholarships, but can be combined with outside scholarships and grants.

Students must have a 3.8 unweighted GPA to be considered for the scholarship interview, which includes meeting with nursing faculty, sitting in on a nursing class, complimentary lunch on campus, and a faculty-guided tour of the Avera Science & Nursing Center.
