Christopher Vondracek is author of Redlin or Rodin: Notes on Midwestern Scenery, as well as Dancing with Welk, a memoir about traveling with his South Dakota college rock band and an autobiography of Lawrence Welk gifted to him by his grandmother. Vondracek's 2020 poetry collection, Rattlesnake Summer, features a poem for each county in South Dakota. Vondracek is a graduate of the University of South Dakota, and is currently a Washington correspondent for the Minnesota Star Tribune. He lives on Capitol Hill with his wife, Carrie, and children, Rosemary and Eamon
