Mount Marty to Host Tenth Annual Women In Science Event

Mount Marty College will host its 10^th annual Women In Science event on September 24, 2019. Women In Science is an event designed to stimulate the interest of young women to explore careers in science, technology, education and math (STEM), and encourage them to pursue the math and science courses needed to prepare them for careers in these fields.

Next Tuesday, 285 area students will attend the event at Mount Marty and engage in hands-on activities and sessions on careers including aviation, engineering, nurse anesthesia, nursing, forensic science, EMS, and many others.

Thanks to a special grant from the Yankton Area Foundation, this year’s keynote speaker will be Stephanie Arne with Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom. Students will also be treated to a featured presentation given by Science Steve from South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

The Women in Science event is sponsored by Mount Marty College, Avera Health, and the Yankton Medical Clinic.
