Fieldhouse Groundbreaking Slated for April 30

Yankton, SD – Mount Marty College (MMC) will kick off the construction phase of the College’s new fieldhouse with a groundbreaking and naming announcement ceremony on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 3:45 p.m. in the parking lot west of Cimpl Arena.

The ceremony will include messages from Barb Rezac, the vice president for Advancement; Sacred Heart Monastery Prioress, Sr. Maribeth Wentzlaff; MMC President, Dr. Marc Long; Yankton’s Mayor, Nathan Johnson; and MMC Chaplain, Fr. Valerian Odermann. The ceremony will also include the official unveiling of the facility’s name.

Vice President for Advancement, Barb Rezac, says the groundbreaking marks an exciting time for both MMC and the city of Yankton. “We are very excited about the construction of the new fieldhouse, and this groundbreaking ceremony not only marks the commencement of construction, it honors the incredible generosity of each donor partnering with us to bring this facility to fruition.”

The $15 million, 100,000 square foot fieldhouse is the first new construction on the campus since 2001. It will offer a 74,000 square foot event space, an eight-lane track and a 7,500 square foot weight training and a fitness facility. Construction is scheduled for completion in July of 2020.
