Suzanne always wanted to be a nurse from early childhood. She grew up on a farm in southeast Indiana. She graduated with her BSN from the University of Evansville. Upon graduation, she moved to New Mexico and began working for the Indian Health Service as a labor and delivery nurse. Next she attended the University of New Mexico and obtained a MSN and post-Masters as a nurse-midwife and family nurse practitioner. Suzanne then worked in a rural hospital/clinic in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico (yes a town really exists with that name- made for interesting times ordering online) After a couple of years, she took a position again with the Indian Health Service as a primary care provider in South Dakota. In 2011, she completed her DNP and obtained certification as a child-family psychiatric nurse practitioner. Suzanne enjoys working with families across multiple generations. In 2020, she received the ACOG William Haffner Award for  her career in the Indian Health Service providing maternal child health. Suzanne precepts advanced practice nursing students across specialties. She is a BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP, ALSO and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Instructor. She maintains membership in Primary Care Clinicians and the COA.  In 2020, Suzanne served on the Surgeon General’s Advisory Boards on Child Dental Health  and Maternal/Infant Mortality Review. Suzanne has been responsible for IHS staff education and programming  in maternal child health since 2015 and joined Mount Marty as Adjunct Faculty in 2021.
