June 13, 2024

Mount Marty University recently celebrated its 2024 undergraduate and graduate students at commencement for both the Watertown and Yankton campuses. The Watertown ceremony was held on April 27, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church, while the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies at Cimpl Arena on the Yankton campus were at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.

Don Roby, a Watertown native, businessman, and board of trustee member for Mount Marty, gave the commencement address in Watertown. He spoke on making mistakes, taking risks, and the importance of your relationship with your employer which can translate to other relationships in your life.

Dr. Ronald Place, Regional President and CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center, provided the Yankton commencement address for both the undergraduate and graduate ceremony. One of the messages he conveyed to the students is to be open to opportunities in their professional careers.

The ceremony also included President Marc Long who gave the initial welcome to the graduates and their families, Chaplain Father Grant Lacey who gave the Benediction, numerous award presentations for the students, and performances by the Mount Marty choir.

The ceremonies honored the students who graduated in Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and August 2024.
