MMC To Hold M.Ed. Open Houses In October

October 5, 2018

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.) program at Mount Marty College (MMC) will hold two open houses in the Roncalli Welcome Center on MMC’s Yankton campus this fall. The first will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. and the second on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.

During these open houses, interested parties will learn about MMC’s Curriculum and Instruction program and its unique condensed summer course layout. Courses in this program meet just one full day per week during 9 weeks each summer with the rest of the coursework being done conveniently from the student’s home. Then during the school year, just one project is completed each semester in each teacher’s classroom, with online support from an instructor.

Testimonials from previous M.Ed. graduates confirm that this program successfully works to:

1) Increase a teacher’s ability to integrate research-based ideas into daily classroom decisions.

2) Use classroom data to increase teacher effectiveness and student learning outcomes.

3) Engage in self-reflection and value the support and prompting of professional learning communities in improving teaching practice.
