Our Benedictine Tradition

Mount Marty University is founded on the Benedictine tradition, which has led us to focus on developing well-rounded students. With personal attention and support from faculty and staff, you can achieve excellence and pursue your passions in academics, athletics, fine arts and other activities. Through our Benedictine core curriculum, we’ll help you gain strong values and life skills that will make you a leader in your profession and community. And, while Mount Marty is a Catholic, Benedictine institution, we respect that faith is a personal journey and welcome all to join our community.

Our Academics

Career-readiness is very important to us, and we will give you the hands-on experiences in labs, internships and other programming that is hard to find at larger universities. But, at the same time, we blend career-readiness with the liberal arts values of creativity, communications and personal growth, which will help you adapt and succeed in the real world.

ARE YOU READY TO EXPLORE YOUR FUTURE?

Our Heritage

The sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, who live, work and pray alongside our students and staff, founded our liberal arts university, fusing it with their Benedictine ideals of ministry, leadership and service. Today, the sisters are still active on our campus, and you will find the bonds with them to be one of the highlights of your college experience. Our alumni come back to campus all the time to visit with the sisters as if visiting with some of their oldest and best of friends.

A HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE IS HERE AT MMU.

Our Community

Our community is important to us. And our campus, situated high on a hill overlooking the Missouri River on one side and the historic city of Yankton on the other, is close to adventure, shopping and so much more for you to explore.

But it is truly those within our campus that make our community so special. Check out what campus life is like and see what our current students have to say about their time at Mount Marty.
