June 13, 2019

The latest edition of Paddlefish, the student literary journal written and edited by Mount Marty College students and faculty, has been released. The journal is an open submission magazine with original works of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and art. Students work as editorial assistants for the literary journal and meet and discuss craft with award-winning authors.

This year’s award-winning submissions are: 2019 Sister Eileen Neville Award for Poetry – “MASH for Lullaby” by Shiann Hansen (Alton, IA); 2019 Father Jack Garvey Award for Nonfiction – “The Effects of Multiple Sclerosis on a Young Family” by Dain Whitmire (Fordyce, NE); and 2019 Eugene Brinkmeyer Award for Fiction – “Lullabies of the Stars” by Jessica Warnke (Omaha, NE).

This year’s online edition features submissions by twenty-two different student authors and artists.  To view Paddlefish 2019 go to https://issuu.com/mtmarty/docs/paddlefish_2019.

Hammond, the editor-at-large of South Dakota Magazine Bernie Hunhoff, author Dante DiStefano, and New York Times Notable Books author Kent Meyers.
