Mount Marty to invite students interested in deepening their Catholic faith in college
October 9, 2025
Mount Marty University is hosting Exploring South Dakota’s Catholic University on Monday, November 10 at 9am on their Yankton campus for any student interested in learning more about the university’s Catholic, Benedictine identity and how its students grow in their faith lives. The event will include a Catholic-focused tour of campus, Mass, and complimentary lunch for all guests, who will hear from faculty, students, and staff and learn about the university’s Benedictine Leadership Institute.
“Faith is an extraordinary aspect of our identities as people who are called to live in community,” said Kaylee Miller, a Benedictine Missionary at Mount Marty and a 2025 graduate of the university. “Here, we demonstrate that education passed down from the Catholic, Benedictine tradition from the Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery play an impactful part to further developing our students into faith formed young adults ready for community.” In addition to meeting the sisters, who founded the university in 1936, attendees will talk with faculty from the theology department and with students from the thriving Mission Scholars program, where students receive annual scholarships to advance faith life on campus.
While the event is ideal for high school juniors and seniors, anybody interested in attending Mount Marty in the future can attend, and there is no cost. “As Mount Marty grows, we want to make sure that we keep our Catholic, Benedictine heritage at the center of everything we do and we hope that attracts students who look at attending a university as an opportunity to grow into their faith,” said Greg Franz, vice president for enrollment management.
“As chaplain and director of campus ministry at Mount Marty University, I am very excited to invite people to campus to see the ways that our Catholic faith informs and influences life,” said Father Grant Lacey, university chaplain and director of campus ministry. “In my years here, I have been grateful to see how all corners of campus seek to implement our Catholic, Benedictine values, particularly the four core values of community, hospitality, lifelong learning, and awareness of God.”
Register here to attend Exploring South Dakota’s Catholic University at Mount Marty on Monday, November 10 at 9am.
