biography
Dr. Elise LeBrun has dedicated her entire career to healthcare in South Dakota. She began as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls from 2014 to 2019, gaining the critical care foundation for the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) program at Mount Marty University, which she completed in 2022.
Following graduation, Dr. LeBrun joined Sanford USD Medical Center—South Dakota's only verified Level I Trauma Center, now with a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department—as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). In 2024, she joined the Critical Pediatric specialty anesthesia team.
Also in 2024, Dr. LeBrun served as Adjunct Faculty at Mount Marty University in the Skills and Simulation Lab for one semester. Her evident passion for preparing Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) for clinical practice and professional excellence led her to pioneer the new role of Simulation Lab Director. To enhance the program's simulation curriculum, she earned certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
Dr. LeBrun is enthusiastic about the continued evolution of simulation in anesthesia education and its lasting impact on improving patient care.
