CONGRATULATIONS, GRADUATES! 

To all of our graduates, congratulations! We look forward to a safe celebration of your achievements this May. 

Our commencement ceremonies will honor the achievements of those who have completed coursework in December of 2020, May of 2021 or August of 2021. To promote the safety of all, wearing masks will be required at these events.

Students, please check the "For Graduates" section below to RSVP to all events you will be attending and see additional details.

We are excited to welcome you to campus to celebrate your graduate’s commencement!  

Please remember this is a fluid situation and our plans are subject to change.  We will continue to follow recommendations from local and state health officials and will make decisions that prioritize the health and safety of the Lancer community. Attendance

A maximum attendance capacity of 650 will be enforced in the Laddie E. Cimpl Arena.  To achieve this, the following guest limits have been established:

Yankton Baccalaureate - No Guest Limit
Yankton Undergraduate Ceremony - 6 guests
Yankton Graduate Ceremony - 10 guests
Watertown Ceremony - No Guest Limit

Handicap seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Guests who are unable to attend in person are welcome to watch the ceremony via a livestream on our website. The link will appear here prior to the event.

Safety 

Please read the information below for details on how we are keeping our commencement safe.

In the interest of all attendees and the Mount Marty community, please respect the following safety measures...

  • A face covering will be required.

  • Maintain physical distance from non-family graduates and guests before, during and after the ceremony. Take care to sit your family group six feet from another group.

  • Do not attend the ceremony if you have tested positive for COVID-19 within two weeks of the ceremony or if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, difficulty breathing, sore throat/cough, loss of taste or smell, etc.

Ceremony Length

The ceremony will last approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, graduates will be led outdoors where they will be able to meet with their guests. Please make appropriate arrangements.

Photography

A professional photographer will take photos of each graduate. Photos will be available, free of charge, on this site a week after the ceremony.

Guests may take their own photographs during the ceremony but must remain outside of the candidate seating area. Guests will have time after the ceremony to take personal photographs.

RSVP to baccalaureate and commencement is due April 17.

Please note that attendance is limited to the graduate and up to 6 guests for the commencement ceremony. There is no guest limit for the baccalaureate ceremony.

Academic Attire

Academic regalia may be picked up in the Roncalli Welcome Center from 12:00 -3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 14 and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15. If you plan to attend Baccalaureate, you will need to have your regalia picked up in the afternoon as the gown is worn during the Mass.  We encourage all graduates in town on Friday to pick up their regalia on Friday to avoid delays on Saturday.

Please return your rental gown to the Roncalli Welcome Center after you have taken photos with your guests. You keep your cap and tassel.  After you return your gown, take a moment to officially sign the MMU Alumni Wall!

Academic regalia orders are due April 17.

Depending on the weather, we will assemble in ASNC gym or the grass area between ASNC and SLC by 9:00 a.m. This will ensure we are ready to begin the commencement ceremony by 10:00 a.m.

The ceremony will last approximately one hour.  Following the ceremony, graduates will be led outdoors where they will be able to meet with their guests. Please make appropriate arrangements.

A Note on Safety

In the interest of all attendees and the Mount Marty community, please respect the following safety measures...

  • Attendance is limited to the graduate and up to six additional guests for commencement. There is no attendance limit for the baccalaureate ceremony.
  • You must wear a face covering or mask.
  • Maintain physical distance from non-family graduates and guests before, during and after the ceremony. 
  • Do not attend the ceremony if you have tested positive for COVID-19 within two weeks of the ceremony or if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, difficulty breathing, sore throat/cough, loss of taste or smell, etc.

LINE UP

Please arrive by 9:15 a.m. for line up.  This will ensure we are ready to begin the Commencement ceremony by 10:00 a.m.

Though you are welcome to take your own pictures from the audience, Mount Marty University will be providing complimentary photos from the event. All photos will be posted here within one month of the ceremony's conclusion.
